Do your bit to keep the Territory safe

You can actively contribute to a safer Territory by helping police to solve crime and take criminals off the streets – all without you having to say who you are, make a formal statement or go to court.

And aside from knowing you’ve done the right thing; you may also be eligible for a reward if your information delivers results – even if you have chosen to not say who you are!

How can you help?

Before you contact us, some questions you may be asked might cover:

  • How you came across the information and how you know it to be true;
  • Any information about past or current criminal activity;
  • Any information about suspicious or unusual activities;
  • The personal details of those involved – such as their names, home address, work address and vehicle registrations, if you know them;
  • Details of the criminal activity or suspicious behaviour – date, time, place and so on;
  • Details of the property – for example, how many people live there, if they have guard dogs or there are firearms and other weapons present; and
  • Details of any vehicles involved.

You aren’t expected to put yourself at risk to get these details, but every piece of information provided helps police to make further enquiries or take action

Unfortunately, some of the information we receive doesn’t contain critical facts – such as a person’s name, address or vehicle registration – and that often limits the ability of police to follow up.

What happens to your information?

What you share with us is then provided onto police, who analyse that information to decide if it needs to become part of a bigger intelligence picture – and that’s why even the smallest piece of information can make a big difference.

When should you contact us?

You can submit an online report form our website any time, day or night. Otherwise call 1800 333 000 and speak with an operator to share what you know. You will be given a confidential number that will become your identity.

Why give us information?

You will be one of the many thousands of people who contact us and actively contribute to a safer community by helping to solve crime and take criminals off the streets – all without having to make a statement, go to court or get involved.

And aside from knowing you’ve done the right thing; you may also be eligible for a reward if your information delivers results – even if you have chosen to not say who you are!

Confidentiality explained

Our focus is on what you know – not who you are, and that’s why we take a number of measures to protect your anonymity to the greatest extent.

When you submit a tip online:

  • We do not have access to personal data;
  • Your IP address, details of the computer you are using or your location are not recorded.
